Antonio Canovas del Castillo was a Spanish designer of importance on the Broadway stage, designing 50s fashions through his Paris fashion house. While creating Lavin in Paris he designed for the stage. His 50s dress style included a draped or paneled side with an hourglass silhouette, softened shoulders, and tightly cinched waists to accent the figure. As the prior accessorizer for Chanel, his attention to detail was beautiful. He used exquisite fabrics of brocade, raw silks, chiffons, and style details with buttons, elegant embroidery, fringe, and velvet edging.
